AlumniHack: Coders and Designers assemble!

Our community portal is renewing soon and you will have the chance to influence its new look and features!

For the first time ever, the EIT Digital AlumniHack will gather the most skilled web developers, data scientists and designers in our community for a full weekend packed of teamwork and coffee. Showcase your innovative ideas on how to empower our professional network and win up to €500 in reimbursable expenses* for your whole team! 

This contest will completely take place online on September 26th-27th and offer two tracks for all branches of technical expertise among our members. Furthermore, all registered participants will have the opportunity to join a free Drupal 8 training webinar on September 25th!

 

Coder track

Ideal for full-stack web developers, app developers and data scientists. Code commit required.

Choose one of the following challenges:

  1. Intelligent alumni directory
    • How to leverage the data that is currently stored in the alumni directory to provide more value to our members?
    • How to improve the search, mapping and navigation features?
    • How to enhance the match-making capabilities of the website (e.g. for mentoring, training or job-seeking opportunities)?
  2. Entrepreneurial support
    • How to bring visibility to business models and project ideas?
    • How to find suitable team members within our community?
    • How to reach possible funders or investors?

 

Designer track

Ideal for front-end developers or HCI/UX/business designers. Wireframes or front-end HTML/CSS demo required.

Choose one of the following challenges:

  1. Enhancing the job portal
    • Increasing visibility of alumni startups
    • Supporting alumni recruiters and jobseekers
    • Enhancing the integration and collaboration with other actors of the EIT Digital ecosystem
  2. Making the alumni website more user-centric
    • How to enhance the professional networking and collaboration between our community members?
    • How to encourage the organisation of local events?
    • How to increase participation in Alumni events?

 

 

Registration requirements

At least one team member must have a valid user account in the EIT Digital Alumni website. Registration to the hackathon is free and open to all alumni, Master School students, Doctoral School students, former employees of EIT Digital, Associate Members and friends of EIT Digital.

Participants can apply as a team or ask to be randomly assigned, depending on the track the person applied to. Teams must have 2-5 members.

There must be minimum 2 registered teams per track, in order for that track to be organized.

Registration deadline: Sun. 13th of September, 2020 - 23:59 CEST

 

 

Evaluation criteria

The jury members will be the Alumni Board, Community Manager and freelance web developer. The winner team of each track will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  1. Value of the proposed solution for the whole alumni community
  2. Quality of implementation

 

*Note: In order to get your expenses reimbursed, all members of the winning teams must provide invoices with the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • VAT
  • Total price
